Abolengo
Abolengo is an improvisatory experimental folkloric trio based on the principal musical archetypes of the Puerto Rican heritage, the indigenous flutes and added trumpets, the afro descendent barril of Bomba with extended cymbals and the Puerto Rican jíbaro cuatro. Its first session was on March 15 of 2021 spearheaded and conceptualized by Roy F Guzmán with support and disposition by Daniel Ramirez and Luigie Vazquez. All three instrumentalist and improvisers with extensive experience in live improvisation bring their assertive musical structures to create a new sound of Puerto Rican folkloric experimental music that strives to nurture itself from the universal musical axioms of the Taíno expanding therefor to all Abya Yala’s essence , from Afro Caribbean, West African, Nigerian, Senegalese and expanding to all Africa’s aesthetic essence and the rich musical essence and harmonies of occidental Europe.
